Stourhead Visit October 2023

Despite torrential rain to start the day we somehow managed to escape the worst of the weather during our visit to Stourhead house and garden. While it was too early to enjoy the autumn colours in all their glory, it was an opportunity to admire the splendour of the landscape and the huge variety of trees in this wonderful garden. This was the last trip in 2023, but plans are afoot for 2024.

A Garden Link Member's Courtyard Garden

Rita’s courtyard garden is approximately 30 feet long and a little less wide. It’s imaginatively divided into small spaces defined by borders, several enclosed by box hedging. Three specimen trees catch the eye and so do well placed pots of various sizes each planted to complement the surrounding area. Rita’s eye for colour combinations is key to the overall effect which is quite inspiring. And with gravel or paving in open areas there’s no grass to cut! If you have a sheltered small garden and are looking for inspiration this is definitely one to visit.
